What to Consider When You Move Off-Campus

While college is painted as a free-for-all in the Hollywood movie industry, for actual college freshmen leaving home for the first time, so much change can be intimidating.  However, perhaps a time college students should dedicate more concern to is later in their collegiate years, once they’ve graduated the dorm life and are truly out on their own.  Many college students choose to live off-campus for their underclass years.  Residence halls offer safety measures put in place by the university and restricted access to students.  However, once you choose to move off campus, you truly are on your own.

Some students move into houses with cheap rent in order to have a little more freedom than resident hall life affords.  Of course, the naivety of youth can often leave to careless, which as a result can put your possessions at risk.  College students are no less susceptible small-time criminals, and perhaps more susceptible to theft, pranks and vandalism.  As a result, some college students and their families opt for a home alarm system, so as to ward of intruders.  Though most students are on a budget, home security packages are affordably priced, making it more reasonable than ever to protect your possessions.  If you can spare an extra ten-spot or so per week, you can make sure that flat screen stays right where you put it.  And for students with particularly tight funds, dont fret.  The ramen noodle diet comes in all sorts of diverse, delicious flavors these days.
