Whether relocating across the country or across town, setting up a reliable home security system can go a long way towards ensuring comfort and safety in your new home.  However, your work shouldn’t start there, as the moving process itself can be hazardous to individuals who fail to plan and make appropriate arrangements before their moving day.

Hire Professional Movers for Heavy Objects – Dont let machismo get in the way of logical thinking, as attempting to lift large, cumbersome objects can result in both serious injury and property damage.

Use Weight Belts and Dollies When Necessary – Such tools can help to offset the strain that picking up heavy objects can place on your body, either by providing better leverage or increased support.

Mind the Details – Anything from an untied shoe to poorly taped drawers could spell catastrophe once an object is in motion.  Carefully examine and reexamine your person and the item in question before loading.

Only Drive the Moving Truck if Comfortable – A moving truck handles much differently than the standard car or truck, not to mention the increased weight of a loaded truck take more time to stop and accelerate.  As a result, it’s best to leave any truck driving to the most experienced person available, as moving day is no time to cut one’s teeth.
